Monitor Materials Reviewer Library Clerk Research Assistant

Title: Cancer Resource Center Materials Reviewer

Purpose: The Materials Reviewer examines the content and format of cancer-related literature, video and audiotapes submitted for inclusion in the CRC collection to determine suitability for use by the general public.

Responsibilities

Pick up assigned materials from the CRC or borrows a selection that is being considered for purchase from the public library .

Using established review criteria, examine publications or audiovisual materials at home and prepare a written critique each selection on the review form provided.

Qualifications

Have or obtain public library card and familiarize oneself with the interlibrary loan systems at their local library (or which ever is most convenient to them).

Must speak, read and write English. The ability to speak and read another language is highly desirable but not mandatory.

Orientation

Orientation will be provided by the director of the CRC or her designee with discussion of the intent of the reviewer's service and the particulars of the review forms.
